Halvorson, John H.
John H. Halvorson, 58, of Atalissa, died at his mother's home in Marion on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Erik; and a daughter, Amanda Halvorsonm both of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Eunice of Marion; three sisters, Sheryl (Nick) Vacca of Washington State, Susie Turley of Texas and Nora Jo (Dr. Jeff) Hopkins; and one brother, Dr. Peter (Brian) all of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father.
John was born Dec. 29, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Stanton and Eunice Fergin Halvorson. John was a machine operator at Plastic Products Inc. in Muscatine. He proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
John was a real outdoorsman, an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed time spent with his friends and beloved family and his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
