Hall, Mary Catherine
Mary Catherine Hall died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville at the age of 80 years.
Mary was born March 31, 1933, on the family farm near Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn A. and Hazel Mae (Kelsey) Anderson. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City. Mary was united in marriage to Daniel L. Hall on June 19, 1955, and to this union they were blessed with two children. The couple later divorced. Mary later met Russell Prandy, with whom she enjoyed spending the rest of her life. Together, they enjoyed camping, being a Good Sams member and spending the winters in Mesa, Ariz. Mary worked as a RN at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at Oaknoll. She especially enjoyed reading, caring for her dachshunds and her years living in and visiting Hawaii.
She is survived by her significant other of 37 years, Russell Prandy of Iowa City; a brother, John Anderson and wife Claudia of Pierre, S.D.; a daughter, Sharon Hall and husband Kirk Reeder of Ankeny; a son, Greg Hall and wife Karen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Michelle Hall-Trotter, Daniel Hall, David Hall, Steven Hall and Andrew Hall; and Russell's children: Donald Prandy, Russell Prandy Jr., Michael Prandy and John Prandy. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Margaret Gipple.
Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Burial will be at North English Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
Memorials are for the Alzheimers Association or Safe Haven Animal Shelter for Iowa County.
