Hall, Lyle
Lyle Hall, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Jones Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the First Baptist Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Norwich Cemetery, Martelle, with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving are three children, Robert (Judith Delsing), Iowa City, Linda (Bob) Gerst, Buffalo Grove, Ill. and Randy (Penny) Hall, St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Aysha) Hall, Ryan Hall, Ramsey (Lewis) Stoynov, Cassandra (Ocean) Druen, Sean (Samantha) Gerst, Ashley Hall, Matthew Hall, Michael Hall and Robert (Brenda) Delsing; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, Doris, Kathy, Joey and Micah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean in 1996; and his brother, Douglas in 2007.
Lyle Darrow Hall was born Nov. 27, 1925, at Fairview, Iowa. He was the son of Clair and Ella Cummings Hall. Lyle attended the Anamosa Community Schools. He was drafted into the United States Navy serving in Pearl Harbor from 1944 until 1946. He returned home and completed his education graduating with the class of 1948 from the Anamosa High School.
Lyle Hall and Monna Jean Burkey were married on June 19, 1949, at the Anamosa Baptist Church. The couple lived in Fairview. Lyle worked as a union carpenter in the Cedar Rapids area. He and Jean operated a furniture stripping and repair business for many years as well. In retirement, he worked for Milt Hale and later Keith Terrell.
Lyle was a longtime member of the Anamosa Baptist Church. He was always ready to help someone and never asked for anything in return. His favorite times were with his family and friends telling stories and jokes. His stories will be missed.
