Hall, Bruce E.

Bruce E. Hall, 76, of East Dundee, Ill., formerly of Naperville and Lombard, Ill., and Door County, Wis., passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Pepper Family Hospice Home and Care Center in Barrington, Ill., surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Conroy, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Minnie (nee Schwarting) Hall. On Jan. 5, 1957, he married Carolyn M. Morris. Carolyn passed away Sept. 5, 2009, after celebrating 52 years of marriage.

Bruce was a true entrepreneur. His careers included barbering, real estate and finally resort management. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee.

Bruce had a great love for children and was an avid supporter and benefactor of Lutheran Day School Education.

Survivors include his children, Debra (Bill) Tolsma of East Grand Rapids, Mich., Steven (former wife Rita) Hall of East Dundee, Ill., and Nancy (Wayne) Swartz of Port Charlotte, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Eric, Alison, Randy, CJ, Michael, Katherine and Kaitlin; several nieces and nephews; and friends, especially his caregiver and good friend, Lydia Massion.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bruce was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Harlan; and his sister, Shirley Cornell.

Family and friends will gather for funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St., East Dundee. The Rev. Phillip Baerwolf will officiate. Private family burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conroy, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, and again on Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time at the church.
