Recently of Keystone, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Violetta M. Haley was “promoted to glory” April 20, 2011, after a long series of chronic illness, surrounded by family members in the home of her son, Joe.
Vi, born in Morrison, Ill., was the second to the youngest of 13 children of Henry and Anna Mae Wiese. A longtime member of The Salvation Army, she retired after 59 years of service in the Army to corps in Clinton and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Milwaukee, and Waukesha, Wis., in 2007.
She is survived by her sister, Darlene Darlington of Amarillo, Texas; her children, Patty and Bob Meyers, Joe Haley, Bill and Penny Haley, Debra Doty, Robyn Haley and Kevin Haley; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Salvation Army, 1000 C Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dr. Patty Meyers officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
