Hale, Dorothy Arlene
Dorothy Arlene Hale, 86, died Feb. 3, 2012, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Manchester United Methodist Church, by Rev. Mike Druhl. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester. Additional visitation: one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Burial: Oakland Cemetery.
Dorothy was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Zumbach) Luck. Following graduation from the Coggon High School in 1943, Dorothy worked in Washington, D.C., in the clerical department for the FBI. After moving back to Iowa, she was united in marriage to Albert “Bud” Hale on Aug. 8, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dorothy worked for the Manchester Police Department as a dispatcher for 15 years.
Dorothy was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed bingo, Bible studies, church, her family and traveling to Arizona in the winter with “Bud.”
Dorothy is survived by seven children, Janeen Weber of Glendale, Ariz., Janette (Ken) Reiger of East Moline, Ill., Doug (Rachel) Hale of Surprise, Ariz., Dave Hale of Manchester, Gary Hale of Phoenix, Ariz., Joleen (Tom) Wilhelm of Manchester and Julie (Mark) Nicholas of Glendale, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Loren) Peters of Manchester; and a sister-in-law, Lavonne Luck of Arkansas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hale in 2009; and her parents, Arthur and Clara Luck.
