Hake, Margaret E.
Margaret E. Hake, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died at Rock Ridge Care Center in Shellsburg on Thursday, April 7, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Inurnment will be in Perry, Iowa. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a brother, Ray Rooney of Perry; and many nieces and nephews, including Jim Rooney and his wife, Karen, of Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was born March 5, 1913, in Perry, the daughter of James and June (Myers) Rooney. She married Ernest E. “Bud” Hake on Oct. 7, 1950, in Perry. He died in 2003. Margaret was a civil service employee and retired after 30 years of service.
She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing the piano and was a gifted landscape painter.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Matthew Catholic Church in Margaret's name.
