Hagerman, Robert C.
Robert C. Hagerman, 83, of 2510 Sisley Grove Rd. SW, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Michael Andrew from Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Audrey; a daughter, Colleen Dwars and Mick Green of Marion, a son, Brent Hagerman and wife Julie of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Jeanette Maier of Marion and Carolyn Blair of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Ryan Dwars and fiancee Brooke Hammond of Iowa City, Jodi Heston and husband Steve of Cedarburg, Wis., Jenny Washburn and husband John of Fairfax, Jamie Evans and husband Chad of Libertyville, Ill., and Paul Hagerman of Hedrick.; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Les Hagerman; a sister, Edith Lockwood;and three brothers-in-law, William Maier, Merle Blair and Dean Lockwood.
Robert was born April 11, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of George and Selma (Quaas) Hagerman. Robert was a 1946 graduate of Alburnett High School and continued his education at Iowa State University in Ames. He married Audrey J. Wachal in 1951 in Marion.
Robert was a truck driver for CRST and A.W. Schmidt Transfer Inc. for over 32 years. He was a lifelong farmer in the Linn and Benton county area. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, Shellsburg Mason Lodge and the Two Cylinder Club.
He participated in numerous antique tractor rides throughout Iowa and collected John Deere toy tractors. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, and worked for Per Mar for Hawkeye football and basketball games for many years.
Robert loved spending time with his family and visiting friends at the many morning coffee stops, DQ ice cream, WWF wrestling and telling a good joke.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
