Hadjis, Gianna Eve

Gianna Eve Hadjis, 4, died in an accident on Jan. 15, 2012, in Chicago. Her death was caused by injuries suffered after being struck by a falling television set.

Gianna was the daughter of Adam Hadjis of Cedar Rapids and Yahira Jones of Chicago. She was born July 14, 2007.

The family is grief stricken and heartbroken by this horrible tragedy. Gianna was a bright, energetic and beautiful little girl.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Boone Funeral Home, 3240 W. 79th St., Chicago. A special graveside service will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago. A Trisagion service in Gianna's memory will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, by Father Ciprian Sas of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John, Cedar Rapids.

Gianna is also survived by her grandparents, Alex and Mindy Hadjis of Cedar Rapids and Pamela Jane and David Sass of Des Moines; and her uncles, Nick and John Hadjis of Cedar Rapids.

In light of this accident, the family hopes to increase the awareness and importance of child safety and organ donation.
