Haddy, Thomas J.
Thomas J. Haddy, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. George Orthodox Church, where a visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. Burial: St. George Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy; two daughters, Jane (Lawrence P.) Haddy Dudak and Julie Haddy Williams; and a son, John R. Haddy.
Also surviving are six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Thomas was born April 11, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Eva Haddy. He married Nancy V. Norman on March 14, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Thomas was owner and operator of Tommy's Restaurant in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church, El Kahir Shrine, 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the American Legion. He served in the Navy during peace time post Korea on the battleship USS James E. Kyes. He also served three years in the Reserves. He was a people's person. He loved spending time with family and friends. He also was very active at St. George Orthodox Church.
