Haddy, John M.
John M. Haddy, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died of cancer Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Father Fred Shaheen will officiate. Burial: St. George Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where there will be a Trisagion service at 7 p.m.
John was born April 30, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High School and later received his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. He taught at Kirkwood Community College for over 20 years.
Survivors include his mother, Syriano of Cedar Rapids; a brother, George (Susan) Karam of Ely; two aunts, Helen Brammer and Rachel David, both of Cedar Rapids; two nephews, Christian (Stacy) Karam and family of Fairfax and Matthew (Chenelle) Karam and family of North Liberty; and many loving and supportive cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and birth mother, Mike and Rose Haddy.
John's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. George Orthodox Church.
