Gwenyth M. Sharpe passed away on July 10, 2025, in Cedar Rapids. Services and Interment will be held privately per Gwenyth’s wishes.
She was born on January 28, 1921, in Cedar Rapids to LeRoy and Della (Conrad) Coon. Gwenyth attended Roosevelt Junior and Senior High School. Gwenyth worked, as a teenager, at Davis Dairy Maid in Cedar Rapids and also enjoyed many hours at the Ce-Mar Roller rink. Gwenyth was an avid bowler, bowling in as many as 13 leagues a season. Gwenyth was a 48-year member of the Women’s Bowling Assn., 600 Club, Iowa 20-year club. She was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Bowling Assn. Hall of Fame in 1999. Gwenyth’s picture is displayed in all of the Bowling Lanes in Cedar Rapids. She was also a member of the Cedar Rapids American Legion Auxiliary. Gwenyth loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.
Gwenyth is survived by her children, James (Jan Dake) Sharpe, Gary (Kim) Sharpe and Karen (Bob) Mercer; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nancy Sharpe; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Sharpe; her parents; children, Richard Sharpe, Robert Sharpe and Leslie (Mark) Becicka; grandchildren, James Alan Sharpe and Stacey Lee Mercer; and her seven siblings.
Memorial contributions may be given to Camp Courageous or to your favorite charity in Gwenyth’s Memory.
