Guyer, Ardis Elaine

Ardis Elaine Guyer, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Norway Cemetery in Norway. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.

Ardis was born May 6, 1923, in Atkins, the daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Johnson) Johnson. She married Robert Guyer on Jan. 23, 1943, in Atkins. Ardis and Bob traveled the country with Bob's military work for years. After Bob's discharge they moved to Cedar Rapids. They were blessed with many trips together with their family and thoroughly enjoying time spent camping. Ardis enjoyed gardening, cooking, the Hawkeyes, and taking care of the home.

Ardis is survived by her husband, Bob, of over 69 years; children, Roger (Rita Kehl) Guyer of Cedar Rapids, Bruce (Lois James) Guyer of Iowa City, Evan (Susan) Guyer of Tustin, Calif., and Brenda Guyer of Florida; five grandchildren, Brooke, Matthew, Megan, Dane and Grant; three great-grandchildren, Brenden, Maverick and Giovanna; and a brother, Virgil (Mary) Johnson of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Allen Johnson.
