Genevieve “Genny” H. Gusta, 86, of Arlington, Iowa, died Monday evening, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Funeral Service: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, with the Rev. Paul Fohs officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Hazleton, Iowa.

Genevieve Helen McClain was born on Sept. 8, 1925, at Westgate, Iowa, the daughter of Leland and Anna (Michaels) McClain. She attended Arlington High School at Arlington, Iowa.
Genevieve married George M. Gusta on April 5, 1944, at Arlington. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in rural Arlington, for 40 years, retiring in 1984.
Genevieve was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, had been a resident of the Lutheran Home for the past 1 ½ years. Genevieve enjoyed playing cards, fishing on the Mississippi River, golfing, going south to Mission, Texas, in the winters, dancing, watching Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games, was a member of the Red Hat Club and hosted many family gatherings.
Genevieve is survived by two sons, Keith (Diane) Gusta of Cedar Rapids, and Dennis (Lynnette) Gusta of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jodi (Joe) Twedt, Ryan (Dixie) Gusta, Amelia Gusta and Cassie Gusta; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin and Jenna Twedt and Dillion Gusta; a special friend and fiance, Kermit Glass of Arlington; brother, Virgil McClain of Oelwein; brother-in-law, Kenneth Gusta; and former daughter-in-law, Barbara Gusta of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George M. Gusta on Sept. 11, 1997; two brothers, Rollis McClain and Glen McClain; and three sisters, Ida, Lucille and Hazel.
