Grother, Elizabeth 'Liz'
Elizabeth “Liz” Grother, 55, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Our Lord has opened up the gates and a new angel has spread her wings. Family and friends will gather from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at her sister Penny's house, 2508 140th St. NW, Swisher.
Liz was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Garlin and Donna (Moore) Parmer. She married Gifford Grother in 1974. From that marriage Liz and Gifford were blessed with a son, Scott. She and Scott had a special bond and he blessed her with two grandsons, Gage and Garrett. Liz filled her life with her grandsons and they were so important and special to her.
She is also survived by a brother, Gary Parmer; and a sister, Penny (Chris) Marak.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Pam Slaymaker and Karen Thorn.
The family extends a special thanks to Hospice of Mercy and the many close friends for their love and support during Liz's final weeks of life.
