Gritton, Donna Kay

Donna Kay Gritton, 46, of Tipton, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, on Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence.

Donna was born July 5, 1966, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil A. and Bonnie J. (Woode) Hamdorf. She was a graduate of Clarence-Lowden High School. On Nov. 3, 2001, Donna was united in marriage to Michael C. Gritton at Coralville Lake, Coralville. Donna loved and nurtured children for 19 ½ years as a teacher in the infant room at Sycamore Center, Tipton. She was a member of Massillon Church and Massillon's Ladies Club.

Donna is loved and survived by her husband, Michael C. Gritton of Tipton; son, Tyler (Miranda Semotan) Sawyer of Lisbon; daughter, Mallory (Nathan Rubner) Gritton of Mechanicsville; parents, Bonnie and Virgil Hamdorf of Massillon; granddaughter, Jaylyn Sawyer; sisters, Diane Garien of Davenport and Denise (Barry) Roberts of Massillon; brother, Allen (Vicki) Hamdorf of Lowden; and in-laws, Roger and Barb Gritton of Clarence.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Donna.
