Roger was born July 28, 1944, in Manchester, the son of Leslie and Lena (Wessels) Grimm. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi, where he held the record of the longest touchdown of 99 yards for a very long time. He also attended Cedar Rapids Barber College. Roger was a barber for 40 years. He owned and operated barbershops in Delhi, Fayette, Cedar Falls and Osage Beach, Mo. He loved his profession and was the best flat top barber in the state of Iowa.
Roger got into racing greyhounds in 1983. He raced and raised over 100 greyhounds. If you ever ask anyone that knew Roger and had a conversation with him you were sure to hear a greyhound story or two. He was very proud of his greyhounds and loved them dearly. He would always talk about his top 3, Red Barrel, Clipper and Star.
Roger also loved to play euchre and poker with all his American Legion and Moose friends whom he loved to beat in cards if possible. Any spare time he would go fishing and boating in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Lake of the Ozarks. Roger was a very caring and generous friend. He loved to make people laugh and have fun. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Roger's name.
“A special thank you to Mercy Hospice, Pastor John Albertson and all friends and family who were there through this time.”
