Grimm, Mark W.
Mark W. Grimm, 49, of 1131 18th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha of cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Mel Ramos officiating. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a son, Kurtis (Darcy); his mother, Marlus; and two sisters, Kay (Leon) Dirks, all of Cedar Rapids, and Peggy (Brett) Brophy of Fairfax.
He is also survived by a special friend, Christine O'Connor; nieces and nephews, Valerie Brophy, Casey, Noel and Wyatt Dirks; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his two cats, Shadow and Stormy.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mark was born on Aug. 20, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Glenn and Marlus Lohrer Grimm. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1980. Mark worked at Big Timber for several years. He was a skilled woodworker and proudly served in the National Guard.
Mark was a wonderful father, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Mark's name.
