Greve, Maxine E.
Maxine E. Greve, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: noon Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Miller. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Patti) Greve of Hiawatha; a grandson, Kurtis (Susan) of Center Point; four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dakota, Hanna and Cooper; a brother, Roland Huebner of Manilla, Iowa; and a sister, Janice (Joe) Shirbroun of Coon Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Duane R. Greve.
Maxine was born June 6, 1925, in Crawford County, the daughter of Herman and Hilaria (Wenzel) Huebner. She married Duane R. Greve on Jan. 3, 1945. Maxine worked for Farmstead Foods for 40 years, U.S. Cellular Center for 25 years and JoAnn's Fabrics for 20 years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ruth Guild and the church choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Iowa Heirloom Quilters Guild and Twin Pines and Ellis Ladies Golf Association. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, working out at Curves and spending time with her grandson, great-grandchildren and family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Jamisine Nabi MD and Hospice Home Care for the loving care they gave to Maxine.
