Greiner, Mary Margaret (Masterson)
Mary Margaret (Masterson) Greiner, 93, of Keota, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Maplewood Manor in Keota.
Mary was born Nov. 1, 1918, at Parnell, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick J. and Anna Neioma (Faas) Masterson. She graduated from Parnell High School in 1936 and from Mount Mercy Junior College in 1938. She married Raymond N. Greiner on June 19, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Parnell. The couple lived on the same farm two miles south of Keota on Highway 92 for 56 years before moving into Keota. Mary was a homemaker, a volunteer to various causes and an active member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons, R. Nicholas and wife Georgiana of Oxford, Terrence and wife Sandra of Keota, Claude and wife Mary of Kalona and Kevin and wife Kathleen of Keota; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, June Jarrard and Patricia Kline of Cedar Rapids, and Frances Masterson of Coralville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond (Red) in 2005; two sisters, Catherine Lenzmeier and Betty Sova; and three brothers, Leonard, James and Edwin.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Holy Trinity Renovation Project.
Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Mary and her family.
