Gregory Stimson, 58, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, conducted by Pastor Kermit Jelmeland. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home. Burial: Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Stimson of Cedar Rapids; children, Michelle Stimson of Florida, Jaimie (Mark) Forcht of Cedar Rapids and Jared Stimson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Detreich, Ella and Bentley Forcht; mother, Marjorie Stimson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; siblings, Jane (Jonathan) Stein of Grand Rapids, Gene (Linda) Stimson of Hiawatha and Kathleen (Russell) Horak of Springville; brother-in-law, Mark Pauly; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell; infant son, Ryan Stimson; and grandparents, Everett and Ethel Stimson.
Gregory was born July 23, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Darrell and Marjorie (Marolf) Stimson. In 1977, he graduated from Springville High School, where he ran track and played basketball. Greg and Cindy (Osterkamp) were united in marriage on July 21, 1984, in Springville. He drove a semi-truck then went to work for Ottsen Oil Co. Gregory was a self-employed contractor including doing drywall for 30 years. Gregory loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating, mushroom hunting and fishing. He was a hard worker. Gregory especially loved his family and would do anything for them.
