Gregory Whitney Jacobs, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at
his home.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, by the Rev. Jack Flaherty. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday after 9 a.m. at
the church.
Greg is survived by his wife, Debbie; a son, Ryan (Kelley) Jacobs of Cedar Falls; daughters, Brooke (Jamie) Sands of Marion and Mackenzie Jacobs of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Haley and Emma Jacobs and Steele and Stella Sands; his mother, Margaret Jacobs; two brothers, John (Sharon) Jacobs of South Carolina and Peter (Rae) Jacobs of Robins; a sister, Tracy (Dave) Hansen of Cedar Rapids; and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
His father, John Jacobs III, preceded him in death.
Greg was born March 24, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Margaret Metzgar Jacobs.
He graduated from Regis High School in 1969. He was the plant supervisor for LeanCor LLC.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Delta Water Fowl and Regis-LaSalle-Xavier Alumni.
Greg was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and a regular at the ballpark. A creative and hardworking man, he was very dedicated to anything he put his mind to. This extended to his family and friends, where he was an excellent son, brother, husband, uncle, father and grandfather. There was nothing Greg would not do for his family.
