Gregg James Anderson, 69, formerly of Marion, Iowa, died of a massive heart attack at his home in Glendale, Ariz., on October 29, 2024. He spent his last afternoon visiting his mother at Montecito Senior Living.
Survivors include his mother, Marge Anderson Beach, his wife, Jane Sheffler, daughter Phoebe, stepdaughter Chantelle, and grandchildren Sorren, Bellatrix, Jaxon, Cece, and step-grandson Brendon. He is also survived by his brother Mitch, sisters-in-law Katie and Laurie Anderson, his uncle and aunt, Allen and Vi Westcott, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and by his brother Perry.
Gregg was born March 20, 1955, to James and Marge Anderson. He graduated from Marion High School in 1973, where he excelled in sports. He then attended ASU on a football scholarship, where he was a member of the 1975 undefeated Sun Devils team. He left ASU soon after, but returned to finish his degree in education in 2005. Gregg enjoyed baseball, golf, fishing, music of the ’60s and the blues. His greatest attribute, though, was his love for his family and his constant caregiving of others.
Per Gregg’s request, there will be no services.
