Greer, Raymond D
Raymond D Greer, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the First United Methodist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. today at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation also one hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Ila Mae; son, Richard (Nancy) Greer of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Linda (Charles) Curson of Marion, Sheryl (Vincent) Giglia of Eugene, Ore., and Rhonda (Daniel) Polk of Las Vegas, Nev. eight grandchildren, Chadwick, Benjamin, Matthew, Deborah, Steven, Jessica, Tonya and Dylan; and five great-grandchildren, Audrey, Wesley, Hailee, Kelsie and Simon.
Ray was born June 25, 1921, in Gladwin County, Mich., the son of Earl and Laura (Detweiler) Greer. He grew up in the Brown City, Mich., area and graduated from the Brown City High School. Ray married Ila Mae Mann on July 21, 1950, in Snover, Mich. He spent most of his life farming on the family farm. Ray was an active member of the United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Men. He and Ila Mae moved to Cedar Rapids in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Eldon Greer; and a sister, Bernice Meyer.
