Greene, Robert L.
Robert L. Greene, 93, of Manchester and Weslaco, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, following a brief illness. Private family services will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. William Warhover of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born Nov. 2, 1916, to Harold and Elsie Green, Robert married Leone Christle in 1941 and they had two sons. Leone died in 1988. He married Lila Shimp in 1989, and she died in 1999.
Bob is survived by a son, David (Karen) Greene; three grandsons, Jim (Val) Greene, Rick (Christine) Greene, and Greg (Michelle) Greene, all of Cedar Rapids and Marion; granddaughter, Kim Ray of Lakeland, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Wilma Buckton of Poway, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven; and twin great-grandsons.
He retired after 45 years as a machinist at Cedar Rapids Engineering. He enjoyed his retirement years at his cottage at Lake Delhi and winter home in Weslaco.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Echo Hill Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association.
