Green, R. Margaret
R. Margaret Green, 88, of 521 36th St. SE, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. A Funeral Mass by All Saints Catholic Church will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by the Rev. David O'Connor. Entombment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Matthew's after 9 a.m. Saturday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a stepson, James (Linda) of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Brian) Gunderson of Tustin, Calif., and Peggy (Gary) Bibby of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Harriett Beatty of Shellsburg; stepgrandchildren, Lisa and Kim Gunderson, Sarah Lawson, Shawn Green, Casey and Tom Bibby; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Russell, Lewis, Robert, Lawrence and John Lubbock; and two sisters, Katherine Garmer and Helen Maxwell.
Margaret was born April 13, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Myron and Margaret Hall Lubbock. She married James L. Green on June 18, 1960, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1986. Margaret worked in the accounting department at Penick & Ford and retired from there after 30 years of service. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Margaret took great pride in her yard, flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed college basketball, the Iowa Hawkeyes and her pet cat, Missy.
Memorial donations may be given to the All Saints Building Fund in Margaret's name.
