Green, Hubert J.
Hubert J. Green, 84, Grand Mound, died early Saturday morning, August 14, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, De Witt.
Hubert was born May 12, 1926 at rural Grand Mound, Iowa, to Anton and Pearl (Bousselot) Green. Following graduation from Calamus High School, Hubert was actively engaged in farming on the family farm. He married Yvonne Burgmeyer August 23, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. Following retirement in 1991, the couple continued to enjoy residing on the farm south of Grand Mound.
Hubert was a lifelong member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound.
Surviving are his loving wife, Yvonne; children, Julie (Brian) Doom, Fargo, N.D., Kevin (Lori) Green, De Witt, Melissa Summers, Cedar Rapids, and Keith (Renee) Green, De Witt; five grandsons, five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Lasack and Lucille (Al) Pickarts; and a brother, Vincent (Deb) Green.
Preceding Hubert in death were his parents; brothers, Raymond, Arthur, Robert and Paul; and a sister, Gertrude Miller.
The family received relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 with a vigil service at 7 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 in Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The Rev. Fr. David Brownfield will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam Green, Mark Doom, Michael Summers, Mitch Green, Marty Green, Josh Lyons and Eric Olson.
