Grantham, Howard H.
Howard H. Grantham, 74, of Harcourt, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at United Methodist Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Karen Young officiating. Burial will be at Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.
Memorials may be left to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Howard is survived by his wife, Clarice; children, Duane Grantham of Harcourt, Marla (Dave) Menefee of Phoenix, Ariz., Deb Schrage of Lake View, Theresa (Rick) Richmond of Center Point and Henry (Kacey) Grantham of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Kodie, Kylie and Kourtnie Grantham, Heather Boren, Matt and Myles Schrage, Ryan, Devonte and Jamison Richmond; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Olive Gade of Vinton; sisters, Joyce Bratten and Marilyn (Bob) Condry, both of Vinton, and Barb (Glenn) Hodgson of Dubuque; brother, Russell (Lori) Grantham of DeSoto; sister-in-law, Karen Grantham of Hazelton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry O. Grantham; brother, Robert Grantham; and stepfather, Bill Gade.
Howard Harlen Grant- ham was born Feb. 8, 1939, in Todd County, S.D. He graduated from Fairbank High School in Fairbank, Iowa. On June 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Clarice Steggall. Howard was employed with the Chicago Great Western Railroad and then Deere and Co. in Waterloo. Howard attended Hawkeye Technical School in Waterloo. Following his education, the couple operated a welding shop in Fairbank for 12 years. Howard then worked for Sadler Machine Co. in Cedar Rapids for 14 years until his retirement in 2001. In 2007, the couple established their home in Harcourt.
