Graham, James H.
James H. Graham, 86, of rural Marion, died Monday, July 1, 2013, while working at his farm. Services: 3 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until service time. Military honors will be conducted. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
James was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Howard and Hellen (Andrews) Graham.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeannine; his sons, David (Lidia) of Cedar Rapids and Kevin (Deb) of rural Marion; and three grandchildren, Daniela, Keegan and McKenzie Graham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William; and his sister, Dorothy.
James graduated from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids, and attended Coe College for one term before entering the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Third Infantry Division and earned the Combat Infantry Badge during the Invasion of Germany. He returned from active duty and attended Iowa State University, completing a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He worked for Green Engineering, Grissel Sheet Metals, Rinderknecht Construction and for many years as vice president of Loomis Brothers Construction. James worked on numerous projects that contributed to the Cedar Rapids area.
On Oct. 24, 1952, he married Jeannine Nelson of Iowa City, Iowa. They lived in Cedar Rapids until moving to their farm in rural Linn County in 1971.
