Gorsch Sr., Carroll W.
Carroll W. Gorsch Sr., 81, of Marengo, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his home. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Katie Z. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Marlene; three sons, Carroll Jr. “Skip” (Harry) of Marengo, Terry Gorsch of Hubbard and Denny Gorsch of Chelsea; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kenneth Gorsch.
Carroll William Gorsch was born July 15, 1930, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of William and Elsie “Pearl” Cooperider Gorsch. He attended the Iowa County schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1947. Carroll married Marlene Catherine Bauler on Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall. Carroll was a lifelong farmer. He was also employed at Kinze Manufacturing as a welder for over 20 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but spent most of his time farming the land that he loved. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Farm Bureau.
Memorials may be contributed to the Marengo Memorial Hospital or Marengo Senior Dining.
