Gordon L. Shissler was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Colfax, Iowa. Gordon passed away after a short illness on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, in Marion, Iowa, at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Audrey; sister, Bessie; and brother, Iden.
Gordon graduated from Colfax High School in 1948 and worked for the Iowa Power and Light Co. from 1949 to 1992. He was united in marriage to Beverly Conn on Sept. 29, 1950.
Surviving Gordon are his wife, Beverly; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Patty; three grandchildren, Daniel, David and James; and three great-grandchildren; all of Marion.
Gordon was a loving, devoted and selfless husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed. The family will hold a private ceremony in his honor at a later date. Condolences can be addressed to Beverly Shissler at 365 Marion Blvd., Marion, IA 52302.
