Gordon R. Benge, "Gordy," passed into heaven on March 6, 2021, at the age of 76. Gordon was born to Nellie Ruth and Loran Benge in Davis County, Iowa, on June 16, 1944. Gordon graduated from Davis County Community High School in 1962 and Northeast Missouri State University in 1969.
After graduation, Gordon taught Industrial Arts and Driver's Education at Lowden, Iowa, later consolidated to Clarence-Lowden and then North Cedar.
He married Jane Adams in 1969, to which one daughter was born. They later divorced.
Gordon was active with bowling, softball slow-pitch league, and hunting. He taught NRA safety courses and was a member of the Hunting and Fishing Club. Highlights of his life were deer hunting in Missouri, restoring cars and drag racing during the muscle car era. He continued to be a race fan, attending local races and following NASCAR.
After retiring, Gordy began to winter in Mission, Texas, at the Tradewinds/Mission Bell community.
He leaves behind a daughter, Amanda Schueder, (Joseph) of Klein, Texas; granddaughters, Lauren and Emma; three brothers, Phillip, Ronald and Roger Benge; and seven nieces and nephews, Matt, Julie (Kenney), Brenda Lee (Smith), Bradley, Brian, Bruce and Brent.
A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday June 16.
