Gordon Lavern Behrens, 91, of Vinton, Iowa, formerly of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Private family services will be held.
Gordon was born on October 3, 1932, in Crescent City, Illinois, the son of Ben & Lillian (Kogler) Behrens. He was united in marriage to Beverly Nation on August 16, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gordon enlisted in the United States Army on November 21, 1952, and Served in Korea. He was discharged on October 28, 1954.
Gordon graduated from Mount Vernon High School. During his senior year, he was first-team all-conference in football. He worked for Rockwell Collins as a Manager for 39 years. Gordon was a member and past president of Rotary International.
Gordon is survived by his children, Dave (Carmie) Behrens, and Marcie (Ed) Fiala; grandchildren, Alex (Angie) Fiala, and Holli Fiala; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly Behrens; and siblings, Delmar Behrens, and Nyla Peeler.
