GORDON ROLLO DIERKS
Monticello
Gordon Rollo Dierks, born July 26, 1944, died May 29, 2017, in Flagstaff, Ariz.
He was the son of Harry and "Snooks" Dierks (both deceased), husband of Cathy, father of Brian (Kenya) and Rachel, grandfather of Nickolaus (Kristen) and Thairyn, brother to Errol (deceased) (Sandy), Cindy (Kurt Gunther) and Neil (Kristie) Dierks. He died before meeting his great-granddaughter, Emerson, born in August.
Gordon was a graduate of Monticello Schools (1963), as well as graduating from Iowa State University and the University of Vermont. He retired from the Naval Reserves with the rank of commander. He also had a long and successful business career in the aerospace/defense industries.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. Friends and family are asked to dress casually and to join in a lunch at the church following the service.
