Goodrich, Michael
Michael Goodrich, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at his home, with his wife and mother by his side. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. His family will greet friends after 1:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Michael was born Aug. 10, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John and Jena B. (Duncan) Goodrich. He graduated in 1966 from Prairie High School, then entered the U.S. Army Reserves. Upon his discharge, he returned to Cedar Rapids and operated the Pony Farm, a Ford Mustang restoration business.
Mike later studied Biblical History at Union College, Lincoln, Neb., and Atlantic Union College, Lancaster, Mass. On April 3, 1976, Michael was united in marriage to Bonnie Blake in Cedar Rapids.
He taught at Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tenn. Michael was a Rabbi and ministered to the Messianic Jewish community. The couple had a radio ministry in Tennessee. They lived on the east coast where Michael was a pastor at various churches before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1998.
Michael was a member of Church of God Seventh Day in Marion. He enjoyed coin collecting but his calling was evangelizing and witnessing his faith to others.
Michael is survived by his wife, Bonnie Goodrich of Cedar Rapids; a son, Gene (Sherry) Kluck of Petersburg, N.Y.; two grandsons, Josh and Matthew Kluck; and his mother, Jena B. Gilds of Cedar Rapids.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, John Goodrich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in care of the funeral home for a fund to be established in Michael's honor.
