Gooding, Kenneth E.
Kenneth E. Gooding, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, peacefully left this life for his new home in heaven on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. A Celebration of Ken's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at Christ Community Church, 3000 Alburnett Rd., Marion, by the Rev. Chad Jennings, Pastor Becky High and Pastor Ron Bupp. Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, and from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial: 1 p.m. Monday at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Ken's family includes his wife of 21 years, Marilyn Cash-Gooding; children, Jeff (Debra) Gooding of Lafayette, Colo., Kim (Joel) Gummert of Gilman, Iowa, Lisa Gooding of St. Joseph, Mo., Tim (Joyce) Gooding of Ferrelview, Mo., Mike (Patricia) Cash of Pevely, Mo., Jeff (Patti) Cash of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Daryl) Cash-Wiese of Iowa Falls; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Laola Gooding of Marshalltown.
Ken was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He dispatched for Landstar Trucking for 45 years.
Family and friends will treasure the love, faith, friendship and humor they shared with Ken.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Ken may be directed to Christ Community United Methodist Church to create a Welcome/Greeters bench or the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
