Goodell, Dorothy Lois
Dorothy Lois Goodell, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 25, 2010. There will be a small memorial service held at Heritage Nursing and Rehab at 3 p.m. Monday, June 28. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, by the Rev. Thomas Osterkamp from Good News Baptist Church. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Sue A. (Al) Stoddard of Lakewood, Colo., Sally J. (Ed) Schmuecker of Cedar Rapids, JoAnn (Larry) Galbreath of Butler, Pa., Danny G. (Nancy) Ruckle of Aurora, Colo., and Debbie L. (Ben) Bowers of Center Point; her siblings, Sue Steadman of Tucson, Ariz., and Ed Phillips of Bloomsburg, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, two sisters and a brother.
Dorothy was born March 8, 1921, in Southdale, Pa., the daughter of Walter and Mayme Schaffer Phillips. She married Glenn Lowell Ruckle on Aug. 30, 1940, in Elvira, N.Y. He died in 1991. She then married Charles E. Goodell on July 21, 1997, in Dewey, Ariz. Dorothy was a member of Good News Baptist Church and Hobby Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing and traveling. Dorothy was a fantastic cook and always lending a helpful hand to family and friends.
She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and was very dedicated to her family.
