Gollobit, Gerald Edward 'Jerry'
Gerald Edward “Jerry” Gollobit, 74, of Lisbon, formerly of Cass Lake, Minn., died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, from a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lisbon Cemetery. There will be a private family viewing. Arrangements with Morgan Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.
Jerry is survived by his primary caregiver and longtime friend, Julie Gollobit, Lisbon; brother, Donnie Gollobit, Belleview, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Soloman and Ruth Bishop Gollobit; brother, Howard “Slim”: and sister, Betty Piazza.
Jerry was born June 19, 1935, in Wanaque, N.J. He married Julie Walton on May 18, 1984, in Lisbon. They moved to Cass Lake, Minn., in 1985 and back to Lisbon in 1998. He owned and operated J.C. Roofing until ill health forced him to retire in 1997.
Jerry enjoyed fishing on the Minnesota and Canada lakes. He especially enjoyed his friends and sharing stories.
