Goedtke, Margaret A.

Margaret A. Goedtke, 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Mercy Iowa City, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born March 19, 1931, in Chicago, to Walter Goebig and Olga (Sharavar) Goebig.

Margaret married Charles G. Goedtke in 1950 in Chicago. He died May 30, 2003. She most recently relocated residency to Legacy Pointe in Iowa City.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Tiedt and husband Dan of Iowa City and Gail Dunsker and husband Don of Naperville, Ill.; one son, Charles Goedtke and wife Christy of Peachtree City, Ga.; six grandchildren, Dan Tiedt, Kris Diehl, DJ (Katie) Dunsker, Diana (Matt) Szynal, Jenna Goedtke and Charlie Goedtke; and two great-grandchildren, Emmie Diehl and Charlotte Dunsker.

Marge loved most visiting with her extended family where she enjoyed playing cards, cooking, watching her favorite TV shows, tending her garden and bringing life to house plants as well as occasional visits to the local casinos. Up until recently she drove eight hours by herself to family gatherings in Iowa City and Naperville, Ill.

Most of her adult life was spent as a homemaker caring for her children and husband in the most magnificent way.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the near future in Iowa City.
