Godsey, Dirk Allen
ANAMOSA - Dirk Allen Godsey, 58, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Anamosa, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, by Pastor David Mosher. Friends may visit Friday at the church after 10 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home, Walford, is serving the family.
Dirk is survived by his wife, Marjory; two sons, Brad (Sarah) of Cedar Rapids and Dustin (Jill) of Philadelphia, Pa.; two grandchildren, Abigayle and Evelyn of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Sandy (Lewis) Sink of Fort Wayne, Ind., Karen (Kenny) Gilmore of Portage, Ind., and Lynn (Don) Reno of Hobart, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and two brothers, Russell Jr. and Jack, preceded Dirk in death.
Dirk was born March 19, 1952, in Gary, Ind., the son of Russell and Vivian (Wolfe) Godsey. He was married to Marjory on Nov. 2, 1977, in Michigan City, Ind. Dirk served with the Marines during the Vietnam conflict. Dirk retired in 2007 after 28 years as a Food Service coordinator at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.
Dirk was a member of the American Legion and had been active with the AMVETS.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
