Gnagy, Richard Llewellyn
Richard Llewellyn Gnagy, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at his home following a long illness. As per Richard's wishes, there will be no services. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born Sept., 9, 1934, the son of Verle and Helen (Schwab) Gnagy. He graduated from Roosevelt High School. Richard proudly served his county in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. In 1961, he moved to Denver, where he met and married Virginia Adair in October 1970. Together they were in the used furniture business. They moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1995. Richard delivered The Cedar Rapids Gazette after retirement. He enjoyed playing cribbage and going to the casinos.
He is survived by his brother, William (Maryann) Gnagy of Cedar Rapids; two nephews, Jon Gnagy and Jeff Gnagy; and his good friends, Tom and Brenda.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Virginia in 1997.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Richard's doctors, nurses and caretakers for their wonderful care.
