Gloria Jean Urmie, 73, of Tipton, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Mercy Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with a public rosary at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Graveside service and burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tipton.
Memorials in Gloria's honor may be directed to St. Mary's Church-Mass, Tipton, or Iowa City Mercy Hospital Hospice.

On Feb. 20, 1943, Gloria was born to Charles and Vivian (Stanger) Secoy in Davenport, Iowa. She attended Davenport School and then married the love of her life, David Urmie in December 1959. In 1964, they moved to their farm in Tipton, where they raised four children: Dawn, Charles, Timothy and David.
Gloria enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds, fishing when she could and spending time with her family and friends.
Gloria's employment years were spent on the farm and then Wilkin Elevator before running the U.S. Grain Exchange.
She was a past member of BPW Tipton, Farm Bureau and a current member of St. Mary's Church and Women's Guild.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Dawn Rae Urmie Williams (Charlie) of Tipton; sons, Charles (Tami) Urmie of Tipton, Timothy Urmie of Clarence and David Urmie of Clarence; brothers, Robert (Pamela) Dyer of Bluegrass and Gary (Susan) Dyer of Bluegrass; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Doris Howe.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepfather, Robert Dyer; grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins; and special cousin, Bobby Schmidt.
