Gloria Jean Funk Kelley, 69, died peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Bird House Hospice Home surrounded by her family. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gloria Kelley memorial fund, c/o Hills Bank and Trust, or to the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.
Gloria was born Nov. 24, 1947, in Iowa City, the daughter of John and Ruth Hauk Funk. She was a 1966 graduate of City High School. On Nov. 20, 1973, Gloria married Robert Kelley in Rock Island.
Gloria was a baker at Randall's and Hy-Vee for many years. Gloria loved to bake everything except brownies. She enjoyed canning, crafts and road trips, but most important to Gloria was her family.
Gloria is survived by her two loving children, Monica (Seth) Dudley and Eric Kelley, both of Iowa City; daughter-in-law, Misty Kelley and stepson, Scott Kelley, both of Huntsville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two siblings, Ken (Deb) Funk and Ruth (Pat) Allender, both of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Cindy Funk, Anita Funk and Donna Kelley, all of Iowa City, Judy Kelley of Cedar Rapids and Connie Johnson, best friend of Waterloo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her stepsons, Chris and Travis; brothers, Clarence "Hop" and Larry; and sister and brothers-in-law, Merle, Ed, Butch and Donna.
