Glew, Delbert L. 'Dub'
Delbert L.”Dub” Glew, 86, of Vinton, formerly of Maynard and Oelwein, died peacefully Tuesday morning at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, surrounded by his family. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Charis Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be a public Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by Hebron Masonic Lodge 374 AF&AM of Oelwein. Burial: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, with military rites by Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post 245 of Maynard.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Glew of Vinton; three daughters, Bonnie (Pat) Peacock of Vinton, Peg Chensvold of Cedar Rapids and Julie (Bill) Kester of Walker; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will always treasure the special times they shared with Grandpa; brother, Don (Dorothy) Glew of Ackley; sister-in-law, Charlotte Glew of Maynard; daughter-in-law, Tammy Glew of Oelwein; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son and best friend (Charles D. Glew on June 24, 2002), and a brother (Merrill Glew).
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
