Glesne, Michelle Leandre
Michelle Leandre Glesne, 42, of Elkader, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, with Pastor Andrea Mericle officiating. Interment will follow at East Side Cemetery in Elkader. Visitation: 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader, and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
She was born in Manchester, Iowa, on March 6, 1969, the daughter of Maurice and Linda (Kuehl) Glesne. She was baptized August 17, 1969, at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport.
Michelle graduated from Garnavillo High School in May 1990, and in June 1990, she began living at the group home in Elkader where she has made her home. She enjoyed her work at the RISE Redemption Center in Elkader. Some of her favorite pastimes include reading, looking at pictures, watching television, especially “Little House on the Prairie,” shopping with Mom, and spending time with all of her family and friends. Special trips she enjoyed were going to the Little House on the Prairie and Wizard of Oz museums.
Survivors include her parents; sister, Denise (Jules) Alexie; brother, Michael Glesne; and nephews, Taylor and Peyton Alexie, all of Elkader.
Michelle was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; and uncles and aunts, Bill and Barb Kuehl, Don and Lois French and Ken and Virginia Rieck.
Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader is in charge of arrangements.
