Glennis Speas, 84, of Kalona, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at her home. A private family burial will be held at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.
She was born March 14, 1934, in Iowa County, the daughter of Urie and Elsie (Yoder) Slaubaugh. She attended Eagleville rural school. Glennis and Donald Speas were united in marriage April 7, 1963, in Kalona. Glennis worked at Capper's restaurant in Wellman, Owen Brush company, Iowa City, Gambles and JW's deli in Kalona. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and sewing.
Glennis is survived by two sons, Jim Speas of Kalona and Stacy (Mary) Speas, of Kalona; a grandaughter, Brandi Speas (Robert Youngblood) of Houston, Texas; a great-grandson, Jiraiya of Houston, Texas; four siblings, Fraynia and husband Ward Snyder of Arizona, Shirley and husband Bob Kuhns of Wellman, Doug and wife Leslie Slaubaugh of Wellman, and Patricia and husband Charlie Vincent of Wellman; and two sisters-in-law, Marlene Slaubaugh of Iowa City, and Linda Slaubaugh of Kalona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and parents; four brothers, Phillip Slaubaugh, Melvin (Frogs) Slaubaugh, Wayne Slaubaugh and Robert (Radge) Slaubaugh.
