Glenna Lea Schnell, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Dr. William Jamison. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel
of Memories Stateroom. Interment following service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Glenna was born April 8, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, to Byron and Charlotte (Minehart) Rains. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1957. She married Allen Schnell on Oct. 7, 1962, in Cedar Rapids.
Glenna worked at Penick and Ford until the early part of 1964, when she and Allen began their family. Four loving and wonderful daughters were born of their union.
She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. She loved spending time with family and friends and supported all of her grandkids' extracurricular activities. She enjoyed crafting, bowling, playing tennis and playing the dulcimer. Glenna also enjoyed word find puzzles and watching the Kernels baseball team, Green Bay Packers and Iowa women's basketball games (Go Hawks!).
Glenna is survived by her husband of 53 years, Allen; four daughters, Kathy Kephart (Shawn Reicherts) of Cedar Rapids, Patricia (Tim) Humphrey of Walford, Tamara Schnell of Cedar Rapids and Wendy (Chris) Blood of Ely; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are siblings, Ronda (Don) Moffatt of Homestead, Garen (Ruth) Rains of Solon and Cheryl Overman of Cedar Rapids; many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members; as well as beloved dog, Quincy.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Byron Rains Jr.; and brother-in-law, Henry Overman.
