Glenn William Wood, 83, of Olin, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, in Anamosa after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's and COPD. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lahey
& Dawson Funeral Home in Olin. Burial will be held in the Olin Cemetery.
Glenn was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Olin, Iowa, on the family farm to Archie and Ruth Wood. He graduated from Olin High School in 1953. He married Dolores Strong on Sept. 13, 1958. Glenn and Dolores spent a brief time in Junction City, Kan., while he was stationed as a mechanic in the U.S. Army. They spent the remainder of their lives together on the family farm in rural Olin. Besides being a devoted farmer, he managed a route for High Grade Milk in Tipton and worked at Iowa Manufacturing. Over the years, Glenn developed a passion for tinkering and created many inventions on the farm in addition to designing and building their family home.
He is survived by wife, Dolores; children, Debora Tjaden (Steve) of Wyoming, Iowa, and Brenda Wick (Robert) of Stillwater, Minn.; grandchildren, Stacey Tjaden of Wyoming, Iowa, McKenzie Buck of Minneapolis, Minn., Darcey Tjaden of Lake Bluff, Ill., and Marissa Buck of Maplewood, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; his sisters, Helen Krutzfeld (Ed), Dorothy Miller (Tom), Ella Mae Holland (Charlie), Margaret Early (Carl) and Alice Christianson (Richard); and several nieces and nephews.
