GLENN JACOBSEN
Dysart
Glenn Jacobsen, 93, of Solon, formerly of Dysart, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church, Dysart. Memorial visitation: 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Military rites will be conducted by the Dysart American Legion. Burial: Dysart Cemetery.
Glenn William Jacobsen was born Feb. 26, 1921, the son of William and Lillian Jacobsen. He attended country schools and graduated from Dysart High School with the class of 1938. Glenn farmed before joining the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Jean Roske of Waterloo in 1945. Glenn retired after 30 years as a sales territory manager from Waterloo Mills, then volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Dysart Golf Course.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, a grandson, and a great-grandson, Alex.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean, of Solon; two daughters, Mary Jean (Dan) Nace of Coralville and Kris (Ed) Gehl of Anamosa; two sons, Joel of Shelbyville, Tenn., and G. Michael (Barb) of O'Fallon, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice, Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation or Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart.
