Glen "Bud" Simmons, 74, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5. Imme-diately following the service, there will be a dinner at the American Legion Hall. Officiating will be Kurt Rich. Friends may call from 3 until 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
Bud was born Jan. 30, 1940, in Anamosa, the son of Glen and Nylene (Lincoln) Simmons. Glen graduated from Amamosa High School. He married Judy Holmes on March 3, 1960. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing for 35 years as a welder and a field rep where he traveled all over the world.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Julia "Judy"; two sons, Jack (Judy) of Avondale, Ariz., and John Simmons of Marion; four grandchildren, Rebekah Simmons, Sherry and Michael McGlaughlin and Dylan Grover; two brothers, Scott and Dennis, both of Arizona; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim Holmes, Don (Connie Shover) Holmes, Linda Varner and Mike Edwards, all of Monticello, and Harold Ahrendsen of Hale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Jennifer in 2013 and Rebecca in 1985; one grandson, Jackson Simmons in 2014; and a sister, Mary Kay Stroud.
